Fighting Extremism (including Trump) using Digital, Data and AI
Abortion rights are just the beginning. The overturning of Roe is only one major example of how extremism has permeated our state and federal government.
Safe and fair election administration, gun safety, climate change, education are all on the ballot as we fight against extremist policies being pushed by the GOP. Although true at all levels of the ballot, this is especially true in state legislatures. Electing state Democrats is how we can defeat extremism (and Trump).
To do this, Tech for Campaigns harnesses the power of digital, data and now AI to turn out incremental voters in swing districts where the state and local races are often decided by a few hundred votes. We serve as a central repository of data from thousands of campaigns, and build tools that allow us to understand, act and scale digital strategies and best practices that help Democrats effectively compete in purple districts and states, where there is the greatest risk of losing a seat and/or opportunity to flip one from red to blue.
SKILLED VOLUNTEERS + STAFF = High quality, high scale, very low cost.
Transform state legislatures. We're aiming to flip 3-5 chambers and break up to 6 GOP supermajorities through our digital Campaign Services Program by working directly with 181 state legislative campaigns in 2024 alone, supporting digital strategy, training, and the execution of websites, email fundraising, digital ads, and texting.
VOTERS ARE HARDER TO REACH AT A TIME WHERE VOTING IS HARDER THAN EVER.
Cover the margin to beat Trump. We're targeting six states that will decide the Presidential race and more down the ballot: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Nevada, and Arizona. They'll all be part of our program that uses our bleeding-edge digital marketing program to help thousands and thousands of people sign up to vote by mail and vote early.
ANalyzing and sharing what works, cycle-over-cycle
Provide AI-powered insights for rapid decision making. We're making it easy for our volunteers, staff, and campaign partners to access and analyze the past and current data they need to make the best decisions, run cross-campaign testing, and more by leveraging our AI-driven chatbot.
As we formed our 2024 plans, we evaluated the key areas that will translate to wins that carry forward beyond this year including:
Expanding our reach and scaling our impact - Working with over 185 state legislative campaigns, our email program raised $410K+ for candidates in 2023 alone. As we support campaigns across all digital marketing needs, driving high scale and efficacy we're engaging more and more campaigns that are looking to execute a best-in-class digital program.
Data-driven experiments across messaging, creative and tools - With our 2022 Voter Turnout program, we drove 55K+ voter signups for mail ballots and early voting, leveraging innovations in digital ad targeting and SMS voter hotlines to drive a fifteen percentage point lift in voting among our signups. Especially important was that a large percentage of the youth and BIPOC voters we signed up didn't have contact information available on the voter file, meaning that we reached voters that likely saw many fewer political messages. All delivered using a data-driven approach that is continually testing the most effective messages, creative assets and tools to use.
Continued investment in our digital/tech infrastructure – We developed and deployed tools that helped more than a hundred campaigns with fundraising workflows, voter contact analytics, and digital marketing optimizations. It forms the basis for all our digital/tech infrastructure in 2024.
